Sage
/ˈseyj ’/
This Smart Suitcase endeavors to design a lug gage integrating an ARM chip to elevate func tionality and connectivity. Echoing the wisdom and discernment associated with the term "sage," this innovative luggage seeks to impart enhanced features and capabilities to enrich the travel ex perience.
Introduction
I wanted to design a smart suitcase with an integrated ARM chip because of the need for enhanced convenience and security during travel. My motivation stemmed from the desire to streamline the travel experience and provide travelers with real-time tracking and connectivity. This problem was particularly challenging since integrating advanced technology into a suitcase while adhereing to air travel regulations and limitations and keeping in mind that the check-in battery operated devices issues.

The Qualities of 'sage'
A suitcase is something which stays with us throughout our journey.
•It runs with us to places
•We can sit on it while waiting for our ride
•It becomes our whole closet when away from home
•We weigh it a million times before getting on a plane
•Sometime when travelling in a car it becomes our headrest
•Clothes stay wrinkle-free in a suitcase too
but sometimes,
•it gets lost with no way to return home
•or one of the wheel gets tired of carrying much weight
•or sometimes the hardcase doesn’t fit into small spaces
•or sometimes the zipper can get stuck
•or the lock broken

Trends | Key Features

Problems one might face without “Sage”
Loss or Misplacement of Luggage: Passengers frequently experience the loss or misplacement of their luggage during travel, leading to frustration and delays.
Limited Connectivity: Traditional suitcases lack built-in connectivity features, such as tracking and remote control, which could help travelers keep better tabs on their belongings.
Security Concerns: The security of luggage is a significant concern for travelers. A smart suitcase could provide enhanced security features.
Inefficient Packing: Many travelers struggle with packing efficiently, leading to issues such as wrinkled clothes and disorganized items.
Weight Management: Overweight luggage can result in extra fees at the airport. Some smart suitcases have built-in scales to help travelers weigh their luggage and avoid additional charges.

First Iterative Cycle

Second Iterative Cycle
Reflections from the First cycle
Reflecting on the first iterative cycle of the Sage suitcase design process, I initially focused on designing a cabin-only luggage solution. However, I soon realized that this approach posed challenges, especially regarding power bank implications and carrying convenience. Recognizing the need for a more versatile solution, I shifted our focus to creating an all-in-one attachment system. This decision marked the beginning of our second iterative cycle, where we explored various attachment options to ensure the suitcase was adaptable to different travel needs.

Reflections
In conclusion, the Sage project began with the objective of integrating an ARM chip into a lifestyle accessory to enhance the travel experience. Through multiple iterative cycles, I have made significant progress, refining the design and functionality of the smart suitcase. However, I recognize that there is still ample room for improvement. Moving forward, I believe that designing a companion app would be a valuable addition, further enhancing the user experience and ensuring Sage remains at the forefront of travel technology.
